WARNER BROTHERS MOVIE WORLD Spain and Germany
Warner Bros. Movie World Germany opened in June 1996 on the former territory of the amusement park "Traumlandpark", which had already replaced an earlier attraction called "Märchenwald". During the time from 1992 to 1993, a short lived theme park called "Bavaria Filmpark" existed in this location as well. The laying of the cornerstone was in May 1994. 1999, Warner Bros. Movie World started a cooperation with Six Flags Inc. As part of this cooperation, Warner Bros. gave the license rights to Six Flags, who in turn managed the park under the name Warner Bros. Movie World as a licensee. MLD (formerly Michael Lee Design, LLC) was brought on to design its newest attraction, Riddler's Revenge, employing characters and themes from the Batman series.
Warner Brothers Recreation Enterprises (now a part of Premier Parks) contracted with Michael Lee Design to conceptualize several attractions for the Movie World Germany project, including the Batman-inspired thrill ride, “Riddler’s Revenge”. The project combined creative storytelling and thrilling experiences with off-the-shelf ride hardware to create a cost-effective attraction that has increased overall park attendance.
The normal site restrictions came into play early on in the concept phase of this project, rendering the planning and design even more critical to the success of the park. Transforming Warner Bros' intellectual property (Batman) into three dimensional physical reality was also an exciting opportunity for MLD to stretch its design muscles.
MLD designed the high-energy "Riddler's Revenge" themed attraction thrill-ride, including all pre-show and show elements, encompassing of the pre-show media viewing areas and backstory, the ride mechanism itself with surrounding support towers (59' high). MLD specified and oversaw construction the design of the associated water features, general area development and back-of-house facilities.
